Gabriel Zwanenburg is an Illustrator/Concept Artist currently based in San Diego, CA. After obtaining his BFA in Illustration, he began working as a freelance concept artist in 2014.
What lead me to start drawing and painting was very likely my fascination with the illustrations in D&D books as well as other fantasy boardgames and video-games. I remember always getting excited about the cover art of my favorite fantasy books, such as Lord of the Rings and Dragonlance and also the illustrations inside some of the history and mythology books I came across. Eventually the question popped up in my head - "how are these made?" and then came the realization that there were artists dedicated to this genre of art. Although it's no secret that I'm a bit of a fantasy geek, I am very fond of faeries and gnomes in particular, which were present in my childhood through the work of Rien Poortvliet and other illustrated faerie-tales!
